Prima Additive by Sodick officially becomes AltForm, marking the beginning of a new phase in the company’s evolution.
The rebranding follows Sodick Co., Ltd.’s majority acquisition completed in May 2025 and reflects a strategic shift toward a broader and more integrated vision of industrial laser manufacturing.
A name that reflects an evolution
AltForm stands for Advanced Laser Technologies for Manufacturing. The new name represents the company’s evolution beyond metal additive manufacturing, building on its established expertise in Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Direct Energy Deposition while expanding into a wider portfolio of advanced laser processes.
Today, AltForm develops and integrates technologies such as remote laser welding, laser hardening, high-speed surface treatments, and automated laser-based production systems. This evolution responds to a clear industrial need: scalable, reliable, and production-ready solutions rather than isolated machines.
While the brand changes, the company’s core identity remains unchanged. The same team, engineering culture, and industrial mindset that have shaped the company over the past decade continue to guide its development, now strengthened by Sodick’s global industrial experience.

A shared industrial vision
Paolo Calefati, CEO of AltForm, commented:
“Changing our name to AltForm is much more than a rebranding. It reflects who we have become and where we are going. Over the past ten years, we have fostered the industrialization of metal additive manufacturing. Today, together with Sodick, we are expanding our scope to the full spectrum of advanced laser technologies and automation. We remain an Italian team with deep engineering roots, now strengthened by the global expertise of Sodick. Our mission is clear: deliver reliable, scalable, and intelligent laser manufacturing solutions for the factories of tomorrow.”
Growing with Sodick, staying in Italy
AltForm confirms that its headquarters and core operations remain in Turin, Italy. As part of Sodick’s long-term investment strategy, the company will move in 2026 to a new, larger facility in the same industrial area. The new site will support increased production capacity, an expanded Application Center, and dedicated spaces for automation and system integration.
This step reinforces AltForm’s commitment to long-term industrial growth, technological development, and operational stability.
Looking ahead
AltForm’s mission is clear: to deliver reliable, scalable, and intelligent laser manufacturing solutions for real industrial environments.
The new identity reflects not a change of direction, but the natural evolution of a company that continues to grow at the intersection of advanced laser technologies, automation, and industrial production.
