The Euro 7 production challenge
The Euro 7 regulation introduces, for the first time, binding limits on brake disc particulate emissions, requiring a 27% reduction compared to current levels. For brake system manufacturers and their supply chains, this is not a future compliance issue. It is an active engineering and production challenge that requires a validated solution at industrial scale before the regulation comes into force.
The coating of brake discs with wear-resistant and low-emission surface layers is one of the most technically credible responses to this requirement. The industrial challenge is applying that coating to the volumes the automotive supply chain demands: consistently, at speed, with the process control and traceability that Tier 1 qualification workflows require.
